What is inflammation?
Inflammation or inflammatory response is a type of response from our body’s immune system. Short-term inflammation can be protective, but the long-term or chronic one can be linked to several serious diseases. The symptoms of inflammation can include:

Does CBD reduce inflammation?

Inflammation is a complex process where our body uses certain signaling molecules called eicosanoids to initiate the inflammatory response. What CBD can do here is inhibit an eicosanoid enzyme which is called COX2, a method that is used by NSAID medications like Advil and Aspirin. However, in the case of CBD, there’s not much risk of experiencing side effects.
Further research suggests that CBD can also impact a class of molecules called cytokines, which is important to the process of inflammation. By reducing the effects of pro-inflammatory cytokines, CBD reduces inflammation.
As mentioned earlier, research is still ongoing about how effective CBD can be for inflammation. There’s only been a few studies, but it’s a topic of interest and benefit, so experts don’t plan to stop. Regardless, many experts still consider it one of the safest anti-inflammatory medicines out there.
